Photography

In April the group activity was a visit to Norwich Castle, taking in all the recent changes and restoration works. Fortunately the weather was kind with access to the battlements permitted.

At the following May meeting, photographs taken at the castle were reviewed alongside photos of other historic events or places.

At the June meeting, members of the group each presented a selection of five related photos with accompanying script, these presentations fulfilled the months challenge topic of ‘Documentary’. In the weeks prior to the meeting, members had each entered into an in-house photo competition on the subject of ‘Garden Safari’, this was to feature any living creature that could be found in the garden. While the competition photographs were sent off for impartial judging, the winning photograph was only announced after the group had completed own practise exercise in judging skills. The winning photograph was ‘Mr Toad’ taken by George Ashall.

George also had two photographs appear in the latest edition of ‘The Marlpit’ Community Newsletter, one submitted by George himself of a Black Cap, taken while on a recent outing with the Birdwatching Group, and the other of Horstead Mill Weir which featured in the u3a’s promotional article.

Topic for the next meeting is ‘Reflections’.
